The Government of Tripura on August 25, 2026, notified the Tripura Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026.
The Government has finalized the rules under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 (OSHWC Code) after considering objections and suggestions received on the draft rules published on January 20, 2026.
The new rules supersede and consolidate various existing Tripura labour rules relating to factories, contract labour, inter-State migrant workers, building and other construction workers, plantations, motor transport workers, beedi and cigar workers, safety officers, welfare officers, and rationalisation/ease of compliance requirements.
Compliance Impact: Employers and establishments covered by the OSHWC Code in Tripura will need to comply with the newly prescribed rules. The earlier State rules listed in the notification stand superseded, except for actions already completed or omitted before their repeal.
They shall come into force from August 25, 2026.
